Intel, LG Display, Parade and Pericom to Discuss Embedded DisplayPort at IDF

SAN FRANCISCO — September 13, 2011 –

WHAT: Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) members (Intel Corporation, LG Display, Parade Technologies and Pericom Semiconductor) will participate in three panels at the 2011 Intel Developer Forum (IDF), discussing Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) and extending battery life in mobile devices. The first panel, titled “Extending Battery Life of Mobile PC through Panel Self Refresh Technology,” will discuss display and graphics subsystems, various workloads and opportunity for power savings, elements of Panel Self Refresh Technology, and Timing Controller design considerations.

The second panel that VESA members will participate in, titled “Hot Topic Q&A: Embedded DisplayPort – Next Generation of Digital Display Interface,” will provide an overview of eDP and VESA’s Compliance Test Guidelines. The panel will also discuss the benefits eDP provides to display technology and component manufacturers, and present key considerations for eDP Timing Controller Design. Attendees of this panel will come away with a deeper understanding of the eDP standard, how it can be leveraged to deliver a superior visual experience, and the ecosystem present to support its adoption.

The third panel, titled “Next Generation Display Technology for Ultrabook,” will discuss Ultrabook device requirements (battery life, resolution, form factor, etc); Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) and Panel Self Refresh technologies; display power evolution; display form factor evolution; and innovation for lower power (optical chain efficiency improvement and panel electronics power reduction).
