NEWARK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) today announced the results of their election for the 2011/2012 Board of Directors. Building on the momentum gained during the previous term, the Association has elected Craig Wiley, senior director of marketing for Parade Technologies, as chairman; Bob Myers, a distinguished technologist in Hewlett-Packard’s Displays Business Unit, as vice chairman; and Brian Fetz, technical product marketing manager for Agilent Technologies, as secretary/treasurer. The new VESA Board officers will be joined by past-chairman Bruce Montag of Dell Inc., Roger Quero from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Devang Sachdev from Nvidia, and Alan Kobayashi from STMicroelectronics for the 2011/2012 term. Over the course of the next year, the Board will work to further the association’s technical standards development efforts, and continue VESA’s evolution into an internationally-recognized trade association.
“VESA and the DisplayPort standard are reaching a critical stage in their evolution. As the industry increases its adoption of DisplayPort, it is increasingly important that VESA continue its international expansion,” said Wiley. “Our membership is comprised of companies from the Americas, Asia and Europe, with 10 percent growth in international participation in the last three years. I look forward to working with the other Board members, VESA’s membership and other industry groups to further develop VESA as an international trade association.”
As the newly-elected chairman, Wiley will draw upon his experience as the past VESA vice chairman, current chair of the VESA Marketing, Mobility, and 3D task groups, past participation in other industry standards organizations, and more than 20 years in display-related technical marketing to continue to build upon the Association’s recent momentum. He will work alongside his fellow VESA Board members to expand the Association’s reach internationally, increase the industry adoption of VESA’s display-related standards, and grow consumer awareness.
As the voting member for Hewlett-Packard since 1992, Bob Myers, a distinguished technologist in the company’s Displays Business Unit, has served as the chair or vice chair for numerous VESA task forces, as well as a Board member for more than a decade. In his new role as vice chairman of the Board, Myers will leverage his more than 25 years of experience driving display innovation for Hewlett-Packard to continue the evolution of DisplayPort into the premier digital display interface, as well as play an active role in the development of additional display standards.
Brian Fetz, technical product marketing manager at Agilent Technologies, has been elected as the secretary/treasurer of the Board. In addition to his new Board position, Fetz is actively engaged in the association’s DisplayPort Physical Layer Subgroup and DisplayPort Plugtests. Fetz has more than 15 years of test engineering experience and has worked in marketing roles to address Bluetooth, Wireless LAN solutions, and signal integrity measurement products; as well as bringing compliance test products to market for DisplayPort.
