The VESA Panel Standards Task Group, led by Dell, with support from AU Optronics Corporation, Beijing BOE Display Technology Co., Ltd., Dai-Ichi Seiko (I-PEX), Innolux, Intel, JAE Electronics, Inc., Lenovo Group, LG Display, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and Sharp Corporation, has defined new panel standards to include narrow bezels and integrated touch.
The standards outline the mechanical dimensions of a 16:9, 13.3, 14.0, 15.6 and 17.3″ narrow bezel display module with integrated touch. The Standards include the drawings of a 13.3, 14.0, 15.6 and 17.3″ display module with 16:9 aspect ratios, integrated touch, and both bent and flat design configurations. Narrow bezel dimension, in these Standards, is the distance from the edge of the display active area to the edge of a module.
The intent of these Standards is to help LCD manufacturers and panel consumers to better control panel supply and demand cycles because panels built to these specifications will be able to be used interchangeably without requiring alterations in product tooling or the display module.
