VESA, Intel and LG Display to Discuss Embedded DisplayPortx

SAN FRANCISCO — September 13, 2011 –

WHAT: The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) will participate in two panels at the 2011 Intel Developer Forum (IDF), discussing Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) and extending battery life in mobile devices. The first panel, titled “Extending Battery Life of Mobile PC through Panel Self Refresh Technology,” will discuss solutions and methodologies for extending battery life in mobile devices. Attendees of this panel will be provided with an in-depth overview of approaches for extending battery life, including platform power reduction, system power management, software optimization, and the implementation of power management guidelines for PCIe, USB, DisaplyPort, and SATA devices using interconnect bus extensions.

The second panel VESA will participate in, titled “Hot Topic Q&A: Embedded DisplayPort – Next Generation of Digital Display Interface,” will provide an overview of eDP and VESA’s Compliance Test Guidelines. The panel will also discuss the benefits eDP provides to display technology and component manufacturers, and present key considerations for eDP Timing Controller Design. Attendees of this panel will come away with a deeper understanding of the DisplayPort standard, how it can be leveraged to deliver a superior visual experience, and the ecosystem present to support its adoption.

WHO: Participants in the “Extending Battery Life of Mobile PC through Panel Self Refresh Technology,” panel include Craig Wiley, chairman of the Board of Directors of VESA; Kamal Shah, director of the extended battery life enabling initiative at Intel Corporation; and She Kwa, senior staff platform architect at Intel Corporation.

Participants in the “Hot Topic Q&A: Embedded DisplayPort – Next Generation of Digital Display Interface,” panel include Wiley from VESA; George Hayek, principal engineer at Intel Corporation; Shah from Intel Corporation; and David Choi, vice president of IT system solution and product planning at LG Display.
WHEN: IDF will be held September 13-15, 2011. The Extended Battery Life panel will take place at 4:25 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Tuesday, September 13. The Hot Topic Q&A on eDP will take place at 4:25 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Wednesday, September 14.

WHERE: IDF will take place at Moscone Center West, in San Francisco, California. Both panels will take place in room 2007.
